ADN Admission Requirements

CAAN Academy of Nursing offers a LPN to RN Program for all future students throughout Matteson, IL, and the surrounding areas. The LPN-RN, ADN Degree program is designed to equip our students with the knowledge, skills, and attitude required to pass the NCLEX-RN licensing exam successfully. Ultimately, they are prepared to become 4C's, Caring, Compassionate, Comprehensive, and Competent Providers of Nursing Care throughout their life span, educated to work in multiple acute and chronic health care settings within the community. The Program is residential with a curriculum of 61 Credit Hours. The Program's length = 60 weeks (excluding time off for calendar holidays and vacation). Our Graduates will receive ongoing employment assistance, along with support in their becoming Lifelong Learners. CAAN Alum is Family!
What are the admission requirements for the ADN Program?
Prerequisites
Prospective students are required to have before applying for admission, the following prerequisites:
- Copy of active, Illinois unencumbered LPN License
- Basic Computer Course
- Psychology 101
- English 101
- Math (College Algebra)
- Anatomy & Physiology (With a Lab)
- Medical Terminology
Application
The application must be completed in its entirety to include:
- $180 non-refundable application fee
- One page typed essay regarding prospective student's desire to advance their degree in nursing (Please limit essay to 500 words, double-spaced, Times New Roman Font)
- Copy of Official Transcripts for prerequisites.
- Have and maintain a cumulative un-weighted GPA of at least 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) through their school career.
- Two letters of recommendation (One Personal and One Professional{Professional reference on company letterhead})
- Complete and submit Academic Plan for Success Form to accompany application.
Entrance Exam
The ATI - Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) reviews objectives that nurse educators deem most relevant to measure nursing applicants' entry-level academic readiness. Please be advised that prospective students can prepare for the ATI TEAS exam by contacting ATI to purchase the TEAS prep materials to prepare for the exam. The cost is as follows (as noted on ATI's website):
Practice Test Package: $80
Basic Prep Package: $95
Smart Prep Package: $129
Comprehensive Package: $199
*Students are required to have an ATI account and bring a Laptop for the ATI TEAS exam.*
Admissions Interview
CAAN Academy provides quality nursing education to qualified applicants. Our interview provides students and administrative the time to get to know each other and what's expected of our students. Each student must meet the above criteria and apply them with all of the above-listed requirements. If chosen as a prospective candidate, you will interview with the committee selected for student admissions. The committee will be made up of educators, business leaders, and mentors.
All decisions made by the selection committee will be final.
